Get the App

Your Mining Toolbox. In Your Pocket. The Android app is the whole website plus the two things a web page cannot do on a mountain.

What the app does that the website cannot

Everything else is identical — it is the same site, the same account, the same paperwork. No second copy to keep in step.

  • Records GPS with the screen off

Walk your corners with the phone in your pocket. A web page stops getting positions the moment the screen locks — there is no way around that in a browser. The app runs a location service with a notification on screen the whole time it is recording, and stops when you stop it.

  • Opens off-grid

With no signal at all, the app still opens and draws whatever county map you downloaded before the trip — terrain, roads, section lines and claim outlines, read off the phone's own storage.

  • County map downloads — not yet

The map packs themselves are not published yet. Until they are, the app's off-grid screen has nothing to download and says so. Everything above it works today.

There is no iPhone app yet. An iPhone app is coming through Apple's TestFlight — no date to promise, and we would rather say that plainly than commit to one. There is a good second-best on an iPhone today: see below.

Installing it on Android

The app is not in the Play Store. You download it from us and install it yourself — that is called sideloading, and Android will ask you twice whether you meant it. Takes about two minutes.

The download is not published yet. The app is built and signed; it has not been put on the download server. When it is, the button appears right here and the steps below are all you need. Nothing to do in the meantime.

Downloaded from goldmonstermining.com and signed by Kriisko Studios LLC. If a link claiming to be this app comes from anywhere else, it is not ours.

  1. Open this page on the phone

Sign in on the Android phone you want the app on and come back here. The file has to land on that phone.

  2. Tap Download, then Download anyway

Chrome warns about files it did not get from the Play Store. That warning is Chrome doing its job, not a sign anything is wrong.

  3. Open the file and allow this once

Tap the finished download. Android says Chrome is not allowed to install apps; tap Settings, turn on "Allow from this source", then Back. You only do this once.

  4. Install, then Open

Play Protect may offer to scan it — let it. "Gold Monster" appears in your app list with the gold crest.

  5. Sign in, and say yes to location

Sign in the same as on the website. When you first record a track the app asks for location — choose While using the app and, if it offers, Precise. It never asks to track you in the background, and it cannot.

To remove it: press and hold the icon → Uninstall. Nothing of yours lives only in the app — your claims and paperwork are on your account, and the website keeps working exactly as it did.

On iPhone

There is no iPhone app yet — one is coming through Apple's TestFlight, with no date to promise. Until then, there is the whole website, saved to your Home Screen, where it opens with its own icon and behaves like an app. Three steps, about a minute.

  1. Open goldmonstermining.com in Safari

It has to be Safari. Chrome and the rest on an iPhone cannot put a site on your Home Screen.

  2. Sign in

Same account, same paperwork, same claims as on your computer. Nothing to set up twice.

  3. Tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen"

The Share button is the square with the arrow out of the top. Scroll the list, tap Add to Home Screen, then Add. The gold crest lands on your Home Screen and opens straight into your account.

What works there: the paperwork, the atlas, your claims on the map, and the AI — everything the website does. What does not: the offline county maps and recording GPS with the screen off. Those two are the reason the Android app exists, and no iPhone browser can do either.
